Adventures with Amy: Cut-paper artwork
Amy Seabrook’s minutely detailed cut-paper artwork is 98% cut with high-tensile steel scissors and mat knife. In her “Thumbelina,” only the woven thread in the spider web is not paper. Thumbelina’s hair is 42 scissor cuts of a single piece of yellow Canson paper, 1” x 3,” and still intact as a single element. Magnifying lenses are a necessary component for Amy’s creations.
Since, 2000, Ms. Seabrook has been a member of the North Shore Arts Association in Gloucester, MA.
The matchless quality of the art reproductions offered here is created by the technique of hard side-lighting to pick up the 3-dimensional quality of the original pieces.
